At our last Zoom meeting, we had PP Michelle Tanner of Rotary Club Matamata speaking, about Rotary's Give every child a future project.
As some background, 1 child in 41 dies before they turn 5 in our Pacific Nations, with pneumonia an diarrhoea being the top killers.  Zone 8 "Down Under" Centenary project is to deliver 3 vaccines (RV, PCV & HPV) to 100,000 children in 9 Pacific Island Countries (these countries determined by Unicef). This is a 3 year project that all countries will continue to do after the 3 year project finishes.  The project is worth 4.5 Million, done through 24 Global Grants.  Currently needing $700,000 to finish this wonderful project.
Measles, storms, Covid-19 and volcano eruption have caused many delays in this project, but onwards and upwards.  On the positive side, the data that has been collected for Covid-19 and use of chilly bins already purchased, has been a huge plus.
With this project, we will leave a true legacy, apart from helping 100,000 children survive.
