Wonderful to see the power of Rotary at work, as with a connection from England, we have the lovely Kisa home hosting our speaker, Thomas, who is over in NZ doing his pre med elective. What a lovely young man & a great morning for Thomas to share his story, as all the way from Dover to NZ.
Thomas was born with what he called a "Flipper"foot, so at 13 months old he was an amputee. Since then has had a prosthetic leg, but hasn't held him back, as even ran a marathon last year. (many groans from members, who wouldn't even be able to do this with 2 "normal"legs, me included.....)

School life - quiet at start but Head Boy at end. Followed by Uni at Brighton & Sussex medical school. 5 years there & last year is an apprenticeship & an elective. This usually involves travel to a different place for a 4 week placement. Thomas chose NZ & Kisa kindly helped with accommodation. (by the photo we saw, both parties are having an amazing time already.....)

Now in NZ, though did have 5 weeks with fiance & 2 friends travelling all around NZ. (probably travelled more of NZ than most of us....)

Now at Middlemore & in a very specialist area, where learning about bone cancers.

Link to Rotary - Dad in RC Dover in D1120. Has 47 members, with only 2 woman. 79 clubs in their District including Gibraltar.

Once finished in NZ, as passed all his exams etc will head home for a job in Brighton starting August.
